Majulah Singapura!
National day is coming up! Is anyone going to be baking singapore themed cupcakes anytime soon? If you are please use the contact form to share it with all of us! In view of the coming national day, it’s time for a little history lesson!
Singapore was once a small teeny fishing village named Temasek or ‘Sea town’ by Sumatran Srivijaya empire and was relatively obscure from the 16th-late 17th century. It wasn’t until 1819, when a certain famous Mr. Stamford Raffles came and signed a treaty with the Sultan of Johor to develop Temasek into a British East India company trading post. And that was how we became a british colony! And a big part of British culture at that time was cupcakes, scones and tea, now you see the significance of this history lesson! If you are interested in more, you can just wikipedia Singapore and read til your eyes bleed haha.
We should embrace our colonial roots once in a while and enjoy some cupcakes and scones with tea!
Here are some pictures for inspiration, do remember to share your creations with us!
